The Baltic Young Parliamentarians Network brings together elected members under the age of forty from the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian parliaments. We share what works, hold the pattern together across three languages, and carry a hundred years of hard-won independence into the next generation of legislators.

Baltic Fellowship
A member from one thread spends a working week inside a colleague's committee and constituency in another.
Shared-Border Committees
Working groups on what the three states carry together: energy, security, the eastern frontier, the digital single market.
Democracy School
An induction curriculum for newly elected members under forty, run with the region's parliamentary institutions.
The Gathering
The flagship assembly where all three threads knot once a year, hosted by a member parliament in a Baltic capital.
The future · a weft for those not yet born
Future Generations.
Weaving for people who cannot yet vote.
The three Baltic states are growing older and smaller, as young people leave and fewer children are born. The big choices on pensions, defence, energy and the digital state are made for decades, not for one term. On 9 February 2025 the three power grids joined continental Europe's, the result of work begun long before.
The Baltic Young Parliamentarians Network, part of the Centre for Youth Policy's family of young parliamentarian networks, works with its members to build lasting parliamentary institutions for future generations.

An independent centre within the Chancellery of the Riigikogu, set up under the Foresight Act of 2016. It studies long-term trends to inform strategic decisions.

A Saeima committee at work since 2014. It oversees the National Development Plan and Latvia's Sustainable Development Strategy until 2030.

Committee for the Future
Set up by the Seimas in December 2020 to coordinate Lithuania's long-term vision and follow the strategies that deliver it.
Next door, Finland's Eduskunta has had a Committee for the Future since 1993, a permanent committee since 2000.

What we will do in the Baltics.
A Baltic trio
We help members form cross-party groups for future generations in the Riigikogu, the Saeima and the Seimas, so each parliament can learn from the future bodies the other two already have.
Model motions in three languages
We draft model motions on duties to future generations and proposals for intergenerational impact assessment, and work toward a recommendation by the Baltic Assembly, the three parliaments' joint body since 1991.
The future check
We support members to test real bills and budgets against the long term, on demography and pensions, defence and energy investment, and the digital state, and to publish what they find.
Baltic long-term indicators
With members, we are developing a regular report on how the three states are faring over the long run: population and emigration, pensions, energy and public debt.
Learning from those who do it
We connect members with the institutions and parliamentarians who already do this work, from Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius to Helsinki, Cardiff and Valletta.
